§ 22-26. Licensing required.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a massage establishment within the corporate limits of the city without first having obtained a massage establishment license pursuant to this article.

    (b)

    A massage establishment shall not allow any of its employees to work as a massage therapist until such person has displayed to the massage establishment such employee's current Arizona massage therapist license to perform such work. A massage establishment shall require that all persons employed as massage therapists maintain current licenses at all times that such persons work for the massage establishment. On or before January 31st of each year, the massage establishment shall verify with each massage therapist that such person has renewed his or her license.

    (c)

    No license or identification card shall be required under this article for chiropractors, naturopaths, osteopaths, physicians or medical doctors holding state licenses, nor shall the attendants or nurses serving under the direct supervision and in the same establishment as the above exempt individuals be required to hold a license.
