§ 22-30. Other requirements for massage establishment licenses.

  • No massage establishment license shall be issued or renewed unless inspection by the city indicates the site of the establishment complies with each of the following minimum requirements:

    (1)

    A readable sign shall be posted at the main entrance identifying the establishment as a massage establishment.

    (2)

    Minimum lighting shall be provided in accordance with the Uniform Construction Codes as adopted and amended by the city.

    (3)

    Minimum ventilation shall be provided in accordance with the Uniform Construction Codes as adopted and amended by the city.

    (4)

    Adequate equipment shall be provided for disinfection and sanitizing of instruments used in administering or practicing massage.

    (5)

    Hot and cold running water shall be provided at all times.

    (6)

    Closed cabinets shall be provided and used for the storage of clean linens.

    (7)

    Adequate bathing, dressing, wash basin, locker and toilet facilities shall be provided in accordance with the Uniform Construction Codes as adopted and amended by the city and health department regulations.

    (8)

    All walls, ceilings, floors, pools, spas, showers, bath tubs, steam rooms, tables and all other physical facilities for the massage establishment must be in good repair and maintained in a clean and sanitary condition.

    (9)

    An adequate number of clean and sanitary linens shall be provided by the massage establishment. Each patron receiving a massage service shall receive clean and sanitary linens of adequate number and size to completely cover the patrons entire body.

    (10)

    A work schedule for all licensed on-site managers and massage therapists.

    (11)

    Compliance with applicable provisions of the Uniform Fire Code as adopted and amended by the city.

    (12)

    A schedule or book of all persons performing and receiving a massage including names, times, dates and type of services.

    (13)

    An accurate floor plan of the establishment will be submitted with the application. Any changes must be submitted within five (5) business days to the tax and license division.
