§ 2-171. Disposal.

  • The city shall have the right to sell, lease, exchange, trade or otherwise dispose of surplus or obsolete city personal property for the best interest of the city. Except as provided in the Charter, the city manager shall determine the best interests of the city and such determination shall be final. The conversion of surplus and obsolete city property for personal use is prohibited. Firearms and other specialty items used by the police department may be disposed of in any manner deemed to be in the city's best interest by the city manager. At the discretion of the city manager, the city may elect to donate any surplus or obsolete city personal property to a governmental, nonprofit or charitable organization, without public notice.
