§ 2-246. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Abandoned: Personal property shall be deemed "abandoned" if the owner thereof fails to make satisfactory claim and proof of ownership within thirty (30) days after the giving of notice as provided in section 2-247.

    Exempted items: (1) Any vehicle, trailer or semi-trailer of a type subject to registration under Title 28, Arizona Revised Statutes; (2) livestock; (3) intangible personal property.

    Officer: Any officer, agent or employee of the city acting within the scope of his/her employment.

    Personal property: All personal property of whatever nature where the owner thereof or his/her whereabouts is unknown, or which is unclaimed for more than seven (7) days, but the term shall be interpreted to mean and shall specifically exclude exempted items.
