§ 2-249. Disposal.

  • (a)

    The city shall have the right to sell, lease, exchange, trade or otherwise dispose of abandoned personal property for the best interest of the city. No disposal of property shall be made until thirty (30) days after the public notice required by section 2-247 has been given.

    (b)

    The officer conducting the sale shall maintain a complete and accurate record of the sale, which shall include the description of the personal property sold, the name and address of the purchasers, the sale price of each item sold and the cost of the sale.

    (c)

    Fair market value of materials to be disposed of by exchange or trade shall be determined by an appraisal. The appraisal shall be contained in the records in the materials management office and shall be solicited from an expert in the commodity field who is not a city employee or agent of a responding enterprise.
