§ 10-101. Existing systems; unauthorized systems; annexation.

  • (a)

    Subject to subsection (b), it shall be unlawful for any person or entity to construct or operate a cable system unless a license has been obtained pursuant to the provisions of this chapter authorizing such construction or operation.

    (b)

    A cable system in an annexed area with a cable license issued by the board of supervisors of Maricopa County shall be deemed in compliance with the terms or this chapter for the balance of the term fixed in the county license. The city shall succeed to the rights of the county under the cable license at the time of annexation. Upon the expiration of the term of a cable license issued by the county in an annexed area, the licensee must comply with the terms of this chapter. If the cable license issued by the county in an annexed area does not have a specific term, such license shall expire at such time as is set by the city council, but in no event later than ten (10) years after the date of annexation.
