§ 25-23. Vacant or abandoned buildings.

  • (a)

    Any unsecured vacant or abandoned building or structure that is structurally sound, weatherproof and otherwise safe must be permanently secured to prevent entry by unauthorized persons. Any wood or similar material used to secure a building or structure must be painted a color compatible with the building or structure.

    (b)

    If unauthorized entry occurs on more than one (1) occasion within a twelve (12) month period and it becomes necessary to close the building or structure by boarding-up windows or doors, all work must be in accordance with City of Glendale specifications as approved by the city manager. A copy of board-up specifications can be obtained from the Glendale Code compliance division.

    (c)

    If the owner fails or refuses to properly secure the building or structure the city may, at the expense of the owner, complete the work by contract and the owner shall be liable for all costs incurred.
